The University of Florida (Intergrative Biology)
Current: Ross University School of Medicine (MD)
Current: University of Central Florida - Health Informatics (Enrolled)
I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's in Biology and am currently a 4th year medical student studying for my board licensing exams. I'm also a current student at the University of Central Florida obtaining a degree in health management and informatics. Throughout my time at UF, I worked primarily as a tutor for students struggling to transition from high school to college level sciences, though I also tutored elementary through high school students in all subjects. With UF having a large foreign student population, I also tutored language arts for both native speakers of English and for those whom English is a second language. After 6 years of tutoring, I am confident in teaching most maths, sciences and language arts of elementary through high school levels as well as basic medical sciences for nursing or medical students and various test preps such as TEAS, SAT, ACT, and GED. I believe in emphasizing core concepts and fundamental ideas. Together we will work to first understand the nature of the problem, second the principles involved, and finally how to arrive at a solution as well as any tricks to speed things along the way.
I hold myself to a high standard and am always looking to improve my skills. Therefore I encourage my students to feel free to voice any concerns, ideas or comments they may have. You will find me to be both patient and persistent, with a sincere interest in helping you acquire mastery of your subject.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you with any questions that you may have. It was the first AP biology tutoring lesson with Richard. He was friendly and polite. He took his time and was able and knowledgeable to answer all questions. He even brought in his medical knowledge what made it very interesting for my son and the content therefore seemed more practical. Thank you.
We hired Richard to help my son in crunch time try to bring up his grades. I was not sure how my son would respond as he was very resistant to the entire tutor idea. The fact that my son had no complaints about him is probably the highest compliment he could get ;)!! Lol. From a mothers standpoint, I was very impressed at how he reported back to me the status and follow up agreements they made as well as his flexibility and quick response time in setting appointments. Very pleased.
Richard was awesome very patient and professional. He takes the time to explain in a simple way that is easy to understand. I highly recommend him and for sure will use him as tutor again!! =) thanks Richard for all your help.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
