My passion for teaching comes from seeing my mother be an exceptional example of an educator. I fell in love with Biology in middle school and it inspired me to pursue a degree in the same field. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Education in December of 2014 and accepted by first teaching job a month later! My Florida teaching certificate is in Biology for 6th-12th grade. I have taught grades 9th-12th and subjects such as Physical Science, Chemistry, Anatomy, although my expertise is Biology. I have had exemplary results on both the Biology EOC (end of course exam) and AP Biology exam. My latest results are 100% pass rate for Biology honors and 80% for AP Biology for 2021 to 22. Although for the last 5 years I have been teaching at a traditional public high school, I have experience working with self-paced curriculums, virtual school, private Christian school, etc.

For me, the highlight of teaching is the one-on-one moments with students that allow me to help them master a concept and show to them that with the right guidance, they can learn anything! Although I have an extensive library of carefully-curated lesson plans and learning materials ready to be used during a tutoring session, I approach tutoring differently than teaching. I prefer to allow the students to express what needs they have and if there any specific learning strategies that work best for them. The students' input is crucial in determining effective tutoring practices for each unique learner. My tutoring sessions have included the usage of several learning strategies, including student discourse, reading literacy, text processing and annotating, remediation, learning tricks, various studying techniques, direct instruction, etc. I find joy in seeing students gain skills and not just knowledge.
