Anthropology

My credentials in the area of anthropology come from my undergraduate education. While earning my BA I minored in Anthropology with a focus on human biological diversity. I also studied cultural anthropology and archeology.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored students in the elementary levels of math, reading, language arts, science, and history ever since entering Middle School. In High School, I volunteered at the YMCA two days a week tutoring elementary school students who were struggling to pass math and science courses. I also participated in a program through my church that helped students after Sunday school who were struggling with math and reading skills. In undergrad, I worked with the Math Lab and Writing Center to help students at the university and other local primary and secondary schools with Math and Writing skills on an as needed basis. These experiences, coupled with teaching my own young daughters math and reading skills at home, have helped me perfect a method of teaching young students which involves clear goals, obtainable rewards, and lots of patience and practice.

Logic

The field of logic is a subsection of the broader field of philosophy. As an undergraduate, I excelled in courses on the subject of logic. The field breaks down into subsections such as rhetoric, syllogism, and other logic games which test the ability to apply logic rules to different situations. I perfected these skills over the summer before I took the Law School Admissions Test (3/4ths of the test directly tests logic skills). I performed very well on the exam. After taking the exam, I tutored other classmates in the area of logic for both class work and exam prep. During law school and legal work (which I am currently involved), I apply these logic rules to real life situations to determine the validity of arguments and establish legal rules out of case law.

Public Speaking

As a law student I have been formally trained in oral arguments and rhetoric. Additionally, I frequently am put in positions in which I must speak publicly in front of a court, a large classroom, or as part of a panel discussion.
