Hi! I'm Lydia!

I graduated from UF with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2019 and passed my pharmacist licensing exams the same year. Though I planned to practice pharmacy, I realized my true passion is teaching.

I've been a private tutor since 2012 and have worked with students at multiple levels: High School, Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional.

My teaching experience includes several roles at Florida International University, where I served as a Chemistry Lab TA for two years, a Chemistry Learning Assistant and a Biology Peer-Led Team Learning Leader for one year each, and a volunteer Chemistry tutor for three years. I also worked with high school students in Chemistry as part of the Upward Bound program and with English and Math students as a volunteer tutor at SIATech High School. During pharmacy school, I was a pharmacy math peer tutor.

I have strong academic skills. I graduated from pharmacy school with a 3.9 GPA and received my campus's Academic Achievement Award three years in a row. I also passed the NAPLEX on my first attempt with triple digits. I completed my undergraduate studies with a 4.0 science GPA (3.98 overall) and scored in the 99th percentile on the PCAT. I am also an International Baccalaureate (IB) program graduate.

I believe tutoring should be a positive experience. I am often described as patient, friendly, hardworking and helpful. I strive to tailor tutoring to your needs. I take time to fully prepare for our sessions, and I'll send additional practice problems if needed because learning takes practice! During our sessions, I'll drop study tips and mnemonics. My aim is to help you achieve your goals and feel more confident about your skills.

If you'd like help with chemistry, math or pharmacy math (including NAPLEX math, dosage calculations for nurses and healthcare professionals, pharmacokinetics, and biostatistics for pharmacists), please don't hesitate to reach out. :)

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have several years of experience tutoring both high school and college students in Algebra I, Algebra II and College Algebra. I particularly enjoy tutoring in Algebra I and College Algebra. As for my education qualifications: I have a doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Florida, and in order to attend pharmacy school, I had to pass multiple undergraduate math and science classes, including College Algebra (Algebra I and Algebra II), Trigonometry and Calculus. I received an A in all of the listed courses, and I completed my undergraduate studies with a 4.0 math and science GPA. During college, I was constantly helping my classmates with our math and science classes. Prior to my undergraduate studies, I took Algebra I and Geometry in middle school, and I tutored my peers in both subjects as part of the NJHS. In high school, I was part of the IB program, in which I excelled in the Math Methods pathway, which included Algebra 2, Precalculus and Calculus.

I have been a private chemistry tutor since 2012 but have been involved in chemistry education/tutoring since 2009. Additionally, I served as a Chemistry Lab TA at FIU for two years and a Chemistry LA for one year. I also scored in the 99th percentile on the PCAT (overall and chemistry), and I earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida.

Proofreading

Proofreading

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida College of Communications in 2008. My undergraduate training included several courses focusing on grammar, spelling, fact-checking and editing. During my time at UF, I was published in several periodicals, including the Independent Florida Alligator, The Campus Sun, and Performance magazine. I was also awarded the "Outstanding Scholar" award when I graduated. Additionally, I have taken several creative writing classes at Florida International University. Aside from my education, I have always been the resident proofreader in my group. Both friends and family members come to me for help when they need someone to proofread and edit their work, both fictional and nonfictional. I have also helped several friends write their personal statements for professional school or biographies for corporate websites.

The Best!

I decided to take a leap of faith and find an online tutor and I am truly grateful that I did. Prior to tutoring with Lydia, I had no confidence in my math skills especially for the daunting NAPLEX exam. Lydia filled my knowledge gap and I learned SO much. She always goes above and beyond and breaks the information down so that anyone could understand. Math is not my strong suit and the way I was able to confidently answer the questions on my NAPLEX today shocked me. I can’t thank her enough! I highly recommend Lydia. She’s professional, has amazing communication skills, very intelligent and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand. Thanks again, Lydia!

THE BEST TUTOR!!!

I cannot express enough how incredibly grateful I am for this tutor. After multiple attempts and nearly losing hope, she was the one who made the difference—helping me pass the NAPLEX on my 4th try. Before her, my scores never improved, but her unwavering faith in me, her patience, and her tailored teaching style turned everything around. What sets her apart is how attentive, personable, and dedicated she is. She didn’t just teach; she listened to my struggles, adapted every lesson to my learning style, and ensured I truly understood each concept thoroughly. When I had breakdowns (and there were many), she never let me give up—instead, she encouraged me, supported me, and pushed me forward with kindness and belief in my potential. Beyond her exceptional organizational skills and teaching methods, she has a wonderful personality—the kind you’d want in not just a tutor but also a friend. This journey was long and tough, but seeing "PASSED" on my results was worth every moment because it’s her victory too. She took pride in my success as if it were her own, and that level of care is rare. I am beyond happy, grateful, and blessed to have had her as my tutor. If you’re struggling, especially after multiple attempts, she is the one who can help you turn things around. Thank you for everything—I couldn’t have done it without you!
