I am an educator with nearly a decade of classroom experience, and I tutor mathematics as a language - a system with its own grammar and logic that a student can learn to follow and reuse.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education, and I completed an advanced mathematics sequence through Differential Equations at Valencia College. Over the years I have taught a range of subjects at the middle-school level, including mathematics, and most recently I taught high school mathematics - Algebra I, Algebra II, and AP Statistics - working with over a hundred students across a full range of ability and confidence. My experience spans whole classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one instruction, including paid independent tutoring with students I did not teach in a classroom.

My approach is concept-first. Many of the students I work with carry a quiet certainty that they are just not a math person, usually traced back to one point where something stopped making sense and nothing after it ever quite recovered. I find that point and rebuild it from there, so the next concept has something solid underneath it. Before a student applies a formula, I want them to understand the question the formula is answering: what kind of relationship they are looking at, why the tool works, and what the answer means.

I tutor Prealgebra, Algebra I and II, and statistics, working with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. Whether a student is trying to get unstuck, catch up, keep up, or push ahead, I meet them where they are and build from there. I want every student I work with to leave not just with a better grade, but with the sense that math was never the enemy they thought it was.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I taught Algebra I in the classroom. It is where students most often conclude they are not math people - usually because they were moved along before something clicked, and everything after that felt like guessing. That conclusion is not permanent, but it hardens if nobody goes back for it. I work backward until I find the place it broke, rebuild it so the reasoning is the student's own, and go forward from there.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I taught Algebra II in the classroom, covering quadratics, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations. Most of my Algebra II students carried forward gaps from Algebra I - shaky factoring, sign errors, weak fluency with exponents - that do not show up as isolated mistakes but compound across the course. My approach is to diagnose where the gap actually originated rather than re-teach the current unit in isolation. I hold a B.S. in Education and taught the full Algebra II curriculum through the school year.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I taught mathematics at the middle-school level. Prealgebra is the bridge from arithmetic to abstraction - fractions, negatives, the first variables - and most of the trouble I later saw in Algebra I and II started here. A student who never got solid with negative numbers does not struggle with negative numbers in Algebra II; they struggle with everything. So I do not move past a piece until it holds.
Statistics

Statistics

I taught AP Statistics in the classroom, covering hypothesis testing, t-tests, chi-square tests, regression, and confidence intervals. Most students who struggle in this course can do the arithmetic; what actually stalls them is deciding what the question is asking and which procedure applies. I work directly on that reasoning, so students understand why a method applies and not just how to run it. I hold a B.S. in Education and taught the full AP Statistics curriculum through the school year.
