My coursework has focused on reading intervention, second language acquisition, academic writing and building conceptual math skills using visuals and problem- solving strategies. I work with all all ages - elementary through adult and I genuinely enjoy helping students gain both skills, knowledge and confidence
I have been tutoring and teaching for 26 years in one-on-one, small group, classroom and online settings including volunteer literacy and ESL programs. With K-6 students, I use hands- on manipulatives, math games and phonics routines to make Common Core math and Reading feel engaging and fun. For middle, high school, college students and adults I focus on essay writing, grammar, fluency, literature analysis, test prep and ESL conversation practice skills. My approach is patient, structured and personalized. I start by assessing and reassessing to determine learning gaps, then use direct instruction, supported practice and then we apply real world application so that we can see milestones of growth.
