I'm an Industrial and Operations Engineering student at the University of Michigan. My main subjects are computer science, math, and Spanish, though I take on other subjects too.
My coursework covers data structures, algorithms, and data analytics in Python. I've built a Naive Bayes text classifier from scratch, plus a C++ solver for the Traveling Salesman Problem using nearest-neighbor with 2-opt. I work in Python, C++, Java, and Git daily, and I lead the Claude Builder Club at Michigan, a 450-member community for students building with AI tools.
Spanish isn't a side offering. I grew up bilingual, Venezuelan, raised in Orlando, and I've worked with 15+ students on conversational fluency along with supporting elementary classrooms through Army of Angels.
I've also taught outside the usual classroom setting. Through U-M's Telling It program, I worked inside the Washtenaw County Juvenile Detention Center on a course about how expressive arts can help kids who've been through hard things. The workshops focused on resilience and healthy emotional development, using methods that took the kids' actual backgrounds seriously instead of one-size-fits-all curriculum. It changed how I think about tutoring: the obstacle is almost never the subject.
My approach is practical. I find the actual gap, which is usually a concept from a couple units back or a habit you've built around avoiding the hard part, and we work from there. Sessions move at your pace.
