I first was a math tutor for Mathnasium, which is an organization aimed at helping students from pre-K to 12th grade with math ranging from addition and subtraction to Calculus. The students between the ages of 4 to 18 years old. I joined Mathnasium in the fall of 2018 and worked there till the summer of 2020. At Mathnasium, there were tables with 5 to 6 students. Each student would either be at the same math level or slightly higher or lower and 1 tutor would be assigned to each table. I learned how to teach quickly by writing down what I wanted the students to learn and giving them an example problem to solve so I knew they could do the problem properly. This allowed me to make my teaching short and effective so I could help as many students with the time I had. I also started private tutoring high school students in the SAT Reading/Writing and Math Sections. These students were between the ages of 16 to 18 years old and I privately tutored them for about a year. I would use different methods of teaching, like timing my students to see if they can answer the questions correctly and on time to make sure they could answer questions quickly.
In college, I served as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for General Chemistry 1, where I taught freshmen and sophomore students, aged 18 to 20 years old, about double displacement reactions, stoichiometry, and chirality when I helped them with their worksheets. I also was a Supplemental Instructor (SI) for Biochemistry, where I would create and teach lessons summarizing the lectures that were taught to the students and use platforms like Kahoot to quiz the students on questions they could see on the exam. The students were between the ages of 18 to 22 years old.
