Hello, I'm Krisha! As an undergraduate student pursuing the pre- PA track with aspirations of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA), I have developed a strong passion for mathematics and teaching. My journey as a math tutor began in tenth grade, and since then, I have been actively tutoring students in various math subjects such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and SAT Math. Notably, during my junior and senior year of high school, I gained valuable experience working at Mathnasium, where I successfully guided and mentored students from kindergarten to twelfth grade (ages 6 to 18). During my time there, I helped students clarify math concepts and supported them in their schoolwork. My primary responsibility was to assist students who were struggling with math topics they were learning in school. I reviewed challenging concepts with them, and provided additional practice problems to help them better understand the material.
At Mathnasium, I gained valuable experience tutoring in various group sizes, including two-on-one, three-on-one, and four-on-one sessions. This exposure allowed me to develop versatile teaching strategies that cater to different learning styles. Additionally, my experience providing one-on-one tutoring during tenth grade has honed my ability to provide personalized attention to individual students. By focusing on their specific strengths and weaknesses allowed me to provide a deeper understanding of the subject matter and build a strong foundation for further mathematical growth.
I am a firm believer that talking through problems is an incredibly effective method to enhance understanding. By encouraging students to verbalize their thought processes, I can identify any misconceptions or gaps in their learning. This approach allows me to tailor my explanations and examples to suit each student's individual learning style. Also, I understand that each student has a different learning style so my goal is to modify my explanations to help the student understand and feel confident in their math skills!
