Bio

I currently work as a biological scientist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, where I work on commercial fisheries dependent monitoring research. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with my dog, going to the beach, and tending to my collection of fish tanks and houseplants. In college, I was the president of a club that brought aquarium hobbyists together, taught others about the hobby, and did numerous outreach events. Some areas I am able to tutor in include middle and high school level biology, earth science, college level biology, marine biology, and public speaking. I am also able to help with any kind of college guidance, since I finished college in exactly four years while taking on extra classes and working, and received a job offer before I graduated. Teaching and guiding students brings me great joy because I have the ability to help people reach their goals!

I majored in biology with a minor in marine biology in college, and graduated in May of 2022. While in college, I was on two different research projects, one being a coral farm where we grew our own corals, and another being a genetics project studying fruit flies. Some of the courses I took include cells and molecules (Bio 1), biodiversity and evolution (Bio 2), genetics, biochemistry, aquaculture, ichthyology, marine mammalogy, tropical marine biology, and organic chemistry.

I received coaching in public speaking during my time in FFA in high school, and I have used that training to present at the national level, as well as present at several research symposiums. FFA members are known for their public speaking skills, and those individuals are always picked out of a crowd at interviews, presentations, and other events. I would love to use my experience with public speaking to help others overcome their fears!

Public Speaking

During my time in FFA, I presented at the national level about the stigma surrounding GMOs, spoke in front of over 600 people at the New Jersey state convention, and was the Vice President of my chapter. My advisor coached me on how to annunciate, pace myself, and be entertaining to listen to. I have since used those skills I learned in FFA in college when I presented my research at my university's research symposium.
