Geography

Geography

Being a high school teacher is not just a vocation; it is a dedication of life to teenagers. My goal is to make seemingly obscure content relevant to students' lives. This approach helps make the complex and abstract theoretical models found in the textbooks and curriculum more relevant to the students and pertinent to their lives. I also teach the limitations of data, models etc. This problem-solving approach helps students with better understanding, critical thinking, analytical skills, and information retention. Students also better retain in-depth content knowledge by making and relating the content to real world situations that are meaningful. I remain professionally current through AP conferences, webinars, and research on cognitive science, formative assessment, and technology integration. I bring the quartet of classroom expertise, psychological insight, curriculum design, and consulting experience, allowing me to translate research into practice and leverage technology effectively. Instructionally, I begin with compelling questions or real-world scenarios and design backward using inquiry-based learning. I integrate visuals, data analysis, games, discussion, and interdisciplinary connections across science, math, and literacy. I embed interactive elements into presentations, and organize digital materials for clarity and accessibility. I am committed to making learning engaging, building academic success, individualized and engaging learning experiences and providing students with essential skills that will last a lifetime. For nine years, I consulted globally for the College Board, leading multi-day AP workshops and Summer Institutes, modeling lessons live and online. In my position as College Board AP Consultant, I helped teachers translate objectives into coherent lessons and aligned assessments. I supported teachers in lesson design, differentiation, and pedagogy while advocating for equity and access. Many participants reported immediate classroom impact and improved student engagement. A
