Carole is helping me to prepare for my IELTS exam. Besides from explaining me different subtle grammar aspects, which made it really easy to memorize them, she also shared with me some useful tests tips: strategies for approaching a task and the hidden caveats. I am working with Carole for my IELTS test and I would recommend her to everyone. She is a native-speaker teacher who has years of experience teaching English as a second language. She is also very friendly, patient and lively. Working with her will bring some joy to your days along with the knowledge. I got 107/120 in TOEFL seven years ago before I came to the States and I feel that I know the frustration of an English learner. First thing first, Carole is a native speaker with a lot of experience working with non-native speakers. You definitely want to work with a native speaker so that you can get all your small mistake corrected. Carole has been very good at picking out small mistakes and incorrect expressions of my English. For example, it is "next January" not "in next January". Those small things will drag down your score. Secondly, Carole has a lot of experience teaching English as a second language. Your English speaking friends will probably tell you: "this is just how I use it and I don't know why". But Carole is able to explain in a way that a learner can understand. For example, I struggled to use "a", "the" and no articles and Carole not only explained it perfectly, but also corrected my mistakes in my essays. Carole knows about these standard exams and I feel much more confident working with her. She can always tell me what the examiners are looking for such that I can get the best possible results. This isn't all about being pragmatic. Actually, my English got better working with her. For example, I know much better about what to write in an introduction paragraph even though some of my academic papers got published - I know a lot of instructors have a "formula", Carole has one too if you need it. But an introduction is more than that. Work with her and you will find out. The bottom line is, if you are looking for a joyful native-speaker tutor with a lot of experience teaching foreigners, Carole is that person.
