Hello, I'm Dr. James!

I recently obtained my PhD from Indiana University Bloomington where I specialized in synthetic organic chemistry research. I have 5 years of teaching experience from my PhD where I taught undergraduate Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II, Honors Organic Chemistry, and graduate-level organic chemistry courses. I also have two years of private tutoring experience that I obtained during my undergraduate studies.

I am fully aware that organic chemistry is a challenging subject for many students and integral to success in these courses is an enthusiastic instructor. A crucial part in my success in organic chemistry courses and then later discovering my passion for organic chemistry as a profession were the dedicated and passionate professors that taught the courses. I strive to bring their same energy and enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions so that organic chemistry can be a more enjoyable course for students. I am very detail oriented, clear and precise in my communication style, and honest in my feedback to students so that they have the highest potential for success.

Aside from my technical expertise, I consider myself to be very down to earth, approachable, and understanding. College science courses are intimidating and I think it helps a lot to have a tutor who can provide an environment that is less daunting and more conducive of productive learning!
