Bio

I have worked in adult education for many years tutoring people who want to learn English. Before moving to Lakeland, I was a program manager for a literacy association where I supervised and trained ESL volunteer tutors. I have a B.A. in English Education from the University of South Florida, and I have completed training at the ESL Academy through Life Long Learning, a division of Greenville County Schools in Greenville, SC.

I believe that students progress more quickly when the tutor provides instruction tailored to the individual student's needs. My philosophy is that learning should be an exciting and joyful experience for the student. Every lesson should provide the student with practical knowledge that can be used in everyday living.

I hold a B.A. in English Education from the University of South Florida; and I have completed course work at the ESL Academy through Life Long Learning which is a department of the Greenville County School System in Greenville, SC. Before moving to the Tampa Bay area I was a program manager for a literacy association for 3 1/2 years where I supervised and trained volunteer ESL tutors. I also taught English in public schools for 6 years. I tutor all levels of ESL from beginner to advanced. Lessons will be specifically tailored to the needs and goals of each student. On the beginning level activities of daily living and subject areas of special interest to the student will be studied. More advanced students may want to study the finer points of grammar and writing with emphasis on workplace vocabulary. All students will have practice reading, writing and speaking in English. Tutoring sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the student.

Great Tutor

Minta has been very helpful to me since we started our lessons. There is always something new I learn each time we get together. She provides me with additional tools (study materials, ideas on how to practice better, etc) every time she finishes her class. Also, it is very valuable to me that she is very flexible and adjusts very well to what I need. In spite of having her lesson prepared, she is willing to change it if I want to discuss something different, and I truly appreciate this.
