My name is Matthew, I've been playing music for almost 16 years in various genres and settings, ranging from worship music to modern genres in professional recording studios to well known festivals and events. I specialize in improvisational playing as well as basic songwriting and music production techniques. I have had a wide range of students ages, from 4 years olds to 70 years old, as well as students with special needs. I have taught guitar/bass/ukulele lessons at Guitar Center and other lesson studios for about 6 years.

After graduating from the MECCA music program at Westport High school (jazz combo, jazz ensemble, concert band, marching band), I enrolled myself in as many music avenues as I could. This eventually brought me to the most fulfilling and gratifying career of teaching. I have learned through personal experience on how important it is to push through discouragement and lack of motivation in practice. Because as most students will find, if you want something bad enough, you will have to be open minded and willing to push through discomfort in learning something new.

My Method in teaching is rooted in first learning good practice habits, then learning how to use knowledge as leverage to have more fun with music. These two mindsets work together in harmony. Meaning if only poor practice habits are being used, then developing helpful muscle memory and learning something new will guaranteed not happen. Learning from a teacher of any kind is not as simple as just listening to them speak, and then suddenly having knowledge to use. It is a team effort to learn from a teacher, and I find great satisfaction in guiding my students towards their goals in music. In hopes that they find the courage to push themselves.
