Hello, I'm Erin! I've been teaching in middle and high schools since 2006. Over the years, I've taught Reading, Intensive Reading, Business, Culinary and Special Education. I'm also a Mom to three teenagers...which helps me to understand the challenge of the parenting aspects when it comes to helping support our children learn.

A handful of years ago, I made the transition to a Special Education setting as a Resource Teacher, supporting curriculum in all subjects. I work with neurodiverse students on a variety of topics. Even more important than their classwork, we focus a lot of attention on Executive Functioning skills. My goal is to work with my students and ensure that they will become a productive member of society - no matter their IQ or ability. Some students on my caseload will have absolutely no problem transitioning into the workforce, while others will need support with time management, organization and social skills. I love my job and know that there are more students out there who can also benefit from working on these skills outside of a traditional school setting.

Thank you for this opportunity! I look forward to getting to know you and helping you thrive both in and out of the classroom.

I am certified in the state of Florida with an ESE (Exceptional Student Education) certification. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I've learned how to be a better educator and a much more patient person from my students with Autism. I'm thankful to those students for being so helpful in educating me about how they see things through their eyes. My certification through the state of Florida in ESE (Exceptional Student Education) permits me to work with students with Autism.
Cooking

Cooking

I taught 7 years of Culinary to both middle and high school students. I prepared the high school students for the ServSafe Manager Certification. Culinary is such a valuable course since students will be using the skills for the rest of their lives. It's important to be confident in reading an executing recipes.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I am certified in the state of Florida to teacher ESE (Exceptional Student Education). I have completed coursework on how students benefit from research-based Executive Functioning skills. Everyone can benefit from working on Executive Functioning skills...even CEOs making millions have room for improvement.

Special Needs

I am certified in the state of Florida to teach ESE (Exceptional Student Education) students. I've completed coursework on Emotional/Behavior Disabilities and Reading Difficulties, Disabilities and Dyslexia. Students with Special Needs shouldn't be ashamed or made to feel different. Their characteristics aren't detrimental to learning...it just means we need to tackle things in new ways!
