I am Olkeb, Ph.D. graduate of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and M.Sc. graduate of K.U. Leuven, Belgium, in water resources engineering, with a Bachelor of Science in Land Resources Management and Environmental Protection from Mekelle University, Ethiopia. With over fifteen years of experience, I have developed a robust understanding of integrated water resources management, modeling, GIS/remote sensing applications, geospatial changes, and extreme value analysis. I have proficient experience in utilizing and implementing engineering concepts and modeling tools. I am an associate scientist in data analysis, exploration, visualization, and summarization techniques. Proficient in water problem-solving and scripting using GIS tools, Python, R, Google Earth Engine, and implementing different algorithms for water resources modeling. My academic journey and research, along with my professional growth and experience, have equipped me with the expertise to oversee complex water resources modeling and management projects, advance in programming skills, and effectively communicate with students. Extensive skills in higher education teaching, scientific papers and technical reports writing, publications, and reviewing.
I have extensively taught and mentored undergraduate and graduate students from Africa, Europe, and the USA, which has taught me how to handle students with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and learning paces. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am mostly passionate about earth and water science, engineering, data science, and programming. Helping and tutoring struggling students prepare for their successes and achieve their dreams. We always seem to have the most challenging on water-related issues, but remarkable advancements. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be essential for a better quality of life, and I strive to instill this appreciation in all my students. I just want to benefit the students I work with and help them succeed as much as possible.
