I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, including a Reading Endorsement. I have over 7 years experience as a kindergarten/first grade classroom teacher. During this time, I had the privilege of teaching literacy skills in the lowest ability class in a high poverty migrant community. All of my students made enough gains to advance on grade level!
My expertise includes teaching foundational phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. I am also extremely skilled at building self-efficacy in my students and using whole brain strategies to fit the literacy needs of multiple ability ranges and learning styles.
One of my greatest joys is looking into the eyes of a child who realizes that, with effort, he or she can learn something otherwise thought impossible.
