I have a B.A. in English from Southeastern University, TESOL training from domestic and international teaching ventures with people of Asian and Hispanic backgrounds, and a Statement of Eligibility for Florida educator certification in English Grades 6-12, with practical teaching experience completed at a nationally recognized blue-ribbon school.
My focus is language and literacy: reading comprehension, grammar and mechanics, essay structure and argumentation, literary analysis, and written/oral communication. I work primarily with K-12 students, but I am open to assisting adult learners as well.
The standard for my clients is focused skills coaching, deliberate personalization, and the formation of adaptive, intuitive learning habits. Before a first meeting, I conduct a thorough diagnostic to understand how a student learns, where they are strongest, and what specifically is getting in the way. Every session is planned around that student, incorporating their interests, their goals, and the exact next step they need to build knowledge and achieve academic objectives. I do not teach from a generic curriculum; I deeply care about the goals, qualities, and future of the person in front of me, and am honored to walk alongside them towards their success.
I am available for in-person sessions in the Pasco and Pinellas County areas and virtually for families anywhere. I offer a brief consultation call before our first session so we can confirm the fit before anything is booked. Sessions follow a 24-hour cancellation policy.
If your student needs foundational literacy support, is preparing for a high-stakes exam, or simply wants to become a more confident and capable communicator, I would welcome the conversation. Reach out and we will find out together whether this is the right fit.

English

English

Before the beginning of last year, I had taught students English internationally, written and communicated professionally in Chicago's small business scene, and assisted university students with college-level essays and argumentation. My ELA teaching position at a local Blue-Ribbon school was the next step to refine my teaching skills and deepen my love for seeing students succeed. Now, I plan to use my knowledge of English to create adaptive habits in students, strengthen their love for reading and writing, and provide intentional, curated one-on-one instruction through full-time tutoring.
Grammar

Grammar

For teaching English as a second language, you must know and instruct grammar rules religiously. Because my students were studying towards the TOEFL, a language test to become students and business people in English-speaking countries; there was no room for grammatical error. The same precision I used to support my ESL students is exactly what I teach as a natural skill in students to date to increase confidence, clarity, and power in their writing.
Reading

Reading

In my previous teaching role, my class analyzed, discussed, and even applied themes from classical literature such as To Kill a Mockingbird, All Quiet on the Western Front, and Romeo and Juliet. We used methods such as essay writing, Socratic Seminar, and student-teacher individual conferencing to break down texts, draw deep understanding of meaning, and apply writing styles and methods explored by authors and their stories.
Writing

Writing

As a teacher at a blue-ribbon school, my classroom had a high standard for written assignments, including poetry, narrative writing, persuasive writing, and informative writing. The goal in the classroom was not to get a passing grade; it was to build habits and methods for students that promoted adaptive thinking, deep understanding, and writing skills that felt natural and intuitive. I use this framework, combined with my background in business and college essay writing, to help students become confident, cohesive writers
