Hello! I'm Alex-- a physician with an MD, MPH, and a long history of tutoring. Breaking down difficult concepts into bite-sized pieces is my thing. Science, biology, nursing, and medicine are full of complex systems that interact in nuanced ways. I like to start with the big picture first, then fill it in with the smaller bits of information you'll end up memorizing. Not only is science easier to learn this way, but you'll also find critically thinking through difficult questions is less difficult than before.
As for my background, I attended the University of Louisville for college and medical school, and Florida International University for graduate school. In college, I earned my CRLA Level III tutoring certification (the highest rank), managed all my university's Biology tutors, worked as a supplemental instructor for most of my university's early Biology classes. In medical school, I was my school's lead tutor in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. In residency, I developed and led my program's USMLE Step 3 review series. Across all levels, I've tutored hundreds of students for thousands of hours during my 10+ years of higher education-- both individually, in small groups, and in lecture-based large groups (my largest session had 120 students at once). Though I am a fully licensed and practicing physician, I enjoy tutoring and miss having students. Please reach out and say hello!
I've tutored students at all levels. Here's what I can offer you:
