Hi! I’m Whitney, a fully bilingual Spanish–English professional with extensive real-world experience using Spanish in academic, professional, and cultural contexts. I began learning Spanish at 14 through volunteer mission trips, high school courses, hosting exchange students, and summers immersed in Spanish-speaking communities. After high school, I lived with exchange students for a full summer, deepening my fluency and cultural understanding. I double-majored in Spanish and International Business in college, studying abroad in Spain for multiple semesters and taking business-level courses. I’ve applied my Spanish professionally as a receptionist, bilingual customer service representative, and now as a medical interpreter. These experiences gave me fluency far beyond textbooks, including slang, informal speech, colloquialisms, medical and business vocabulary, and cultural nuances across Latin America. I’ve also tutored Spanish at a state college and assisted with volunteer ESL programs in Jacksonville. These experiences provided hands-on exposure to helping students improve language skills in structured and supportive environments. Even though my formal teaching experience is brief, I’ve practiced adapting lessons to different learning styles and providing individualized support, skills I continue to bring to every tutoring session.
