My educational background is as follows: I finished my undergraduate degree from Amherst College, 1985; majored in economics with concentration in math.

I have Master's degrees from MIT (Business administration) in 1987 and Rensselaer Hartford (Computer science and engineering) in 1992. I've also taken courses more recently in Psychology, Biology, and Medical Interpreting, so I know what it's like to be a student.

I had a 28 year career in finance before retiring at the end of 2015. I worked extensively in securities analysis in the fixed income (bond) market, where I specialized in mortgage-backed securities. I have a lot of experience applying math to problems in finance. Since retiring, I have worked as a substitute teacher, mainly at high schools in the Hartford area, and with primary emphasis in mathematics.

I have taken and passed the Praxis II exam for Grades 7-12 math, and have completed the ARC program for certification as a middle school / high school math teacher in Connecticut. I have also worked as a substitute teacher, mainly in the Meriden high schools -- but also other districts -- in a variety of math courses, including stats, algebra 2, and geometry / trig. I am familiar as well with linear algebra and calculus.

Brilliant, so knowledgeable, would 100% recommend

David is so smart and knowledgeable about finance and economics. I wanted to pick his brain on some economics topic, and David went over and beyond to help me and explain his thoughts. I can't believe I was able to talk to someone with his credentials. I am so impressed and I am excited for more lessons with David.

Excellent! Patient!!! 5 stars all around.

Incredibly helpful with linear regression models in Excel and assisted me with decision tree analysis, saving me a significant amount of time. Extremely patient, with a depth of understanding that’s truly rare.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

I had eight lessons with David and they were always worth it! As a nontraditional college student, I needed someone knowledgeable, and patient and he fit the bill. He helped me better understand Algebraic concepts and knew when I didn't. He was very intuitive, in that manner. I don't feel I would have passed my exams without his assistance, because my professor covered material very quickly. I highly recommend him as a tutor.
