Hi, I'm Anna. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone studies, with a minor in Anthropology. Prior to my time at the University of Florida, I was a full-time dual-enrolled high school student at Florida Gulf Coast University for two years. During my time there, I was a university teaching assistant for the subjects of biology and college algebra for the duration of a semester each. Through these roles I realized my love for teaching and helping others, and it would become a constant in my life from then on. Again at the University of Florida, I was a virtual university teaching assistant for graduate and undergraduate level molecular genetics courses for five semesters.
I started my first tutoring position outside of a large classroom setting at the University of Florida Athletic Association where I tutored student athletes individually and in small groups. This was a formative role as I learned to adjust to the unique needs and busy schedules of student athletes. The courses I tutored ranged from mathematics, chemistry, psychology, international relations, and more. Additionally, I learned a couple courses from scratch, and excelled in tutoring those. They included management, history of jazz, and certain writing courses.
I decided to take my passion for teaching to the next level when I moved to Colmar, France to participate in the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF). I was placed in a high school in the Academy of Strasbourg and taught English as a foreign language to 15-18 year old students. In this role I held a lot of independence, as I conducted my own classes and created my own teaching materials. Periodically, I also assisted teachers with managing their classes and practicing conversational skills with students in small groups. After my seven months in the program, I decided I would continue with teaching and tutoring, because it is an endeavor I find truly rewarding.
