I hold a PhD in Public Health from Walden University, where I completed a dissertation examining the relationship between diabetes and cognitive dysfunction using national health survey data. Completing this process from initial proposal through final defense gave me firsthand experience with every stage of academic research writing, including structuring a proposal, conducting an in-depth literature review, developing clear research questions, and writing methodology sections that communicate complex ideas in accessible language. I understand how overwhelming this process can feel, especially in the early stages, and I bring both academic rigor and genuine empathy to helping students move through it with more clarity and confidence.
In addition to my doctoral training, I have nineteen years of experience in biomedical and neuroscience research, including sixteen years at the University of Florida, where I trained and mentored approximately twenty undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory research techniques and procedures. This one-on-one mentoring experience, working directly with students at varying levels of research experience, taught me how to break down complicated material patiently and adjust my explanations to fit each student's learning style and comfort level.
I offer coaching in thesis and dissertation writing, essay writing, academic writing clarity, and literature review synthesis. My approach focuses on helping students organize their thinking, develop a clear structure for their work, and build genuine confidence in their own research and writing rather than simply telling them what to write. I would be glad to work with graduate and advanced undergraduate students who want a supportive, experienced guide through the proposal or dissertation writing process.
