My name is Kelly, and I have been an educator for 15+ years. Thank you for considering me as an option for an important member of your educational team! I have worked thousands of hours preparing literally hundreds of students for the ISEE or SSAT, so these exams--at all three levels--are my expert areas. I have been a classroom teacher in middle schools in the US and abroad, and I have taught learning-different students both in a classroom setting and one-on-one. My approach to working with students one-on-one is to get to know my students' learning styles, so that I can help them build confidence and use their strengths. I find teaching joyful, and I feel honored to be able to help students "find" and build on their strengths in reading, writing, and math.

When teaching elementary and middle level math, I use hands-on methods to help learners understand math concepts. I use games, movement, and fun with younger learners to build automaticity with essential math facts. I've been exploring websites and resources for years, filling my teaching toolbox with endless tools to help any type of learner.

It takes more than just someone who is an excellent writer or reader or academic to teach writing or reading or other academic skills. Teaching requires flexibility, dedication, insight, and experience. I bring these characteristics to every lesson.

The ISEE and SSAT are difficult exams, and I work hard to help students understand both the content and the strategies necessary for either exam. I am also happy to help a family determine which exam is better for their child, given their individual strengths and their school application circumstances.

Having taken the Praxis exam, I am also well-suited to helping with this exam. I especially understand that math can be a struggle for prospective educators who haven't focused on math courses in some time. I also enjoy helping students to prepare for the reading and writing portions of the SAT.

I have been a teacher for 15 years. I have taught in charter schools, which require state standardized testing. I have also taught in independent and international schools, but some of those schools still partially use the common core curriculum. I am very well qualified to teach standards-based material.

I have worked with over 100 students on all 3 levels of the ISEE and SSAT. For 3 years in London, I was the Director of the ISEE/SSAT programming at a test prep company. I am fully dedicated to the success of my students, as I know how important this exam is for students and families.

Focused and personable tutor
