After one introductory lesson with Katie R., I found that the depth of her teaching skill came quickly to the fore. It was present in her ability to move quickly, but thoroughly, through her assessment of my skills, while simultaneously providing immediate feedback and insights to my language use. And equally in her exploration of the course of my learning so far, the breadth of my exposure to the language, and the nature of my interest in it. As a result, I quickly felt relaxed and safe enough to experiment under her guidance, try new things, and expose the limits of my skills. Language immersion is a center piece of her teaching style. She is ready and willing to exhaust all means to achieve understanding before breaking immersion. I am looking forward to more hours with this talented educator.
