I am the founder of Daniel S. Baxter LLC and have been working in education since 2007, when I began as a volunteer teacher’s aide in a classroom setting. I gained this experience while getting my B.A. degree in Sociology. Over the past decade, I have built a career in standardized test preparation and academic coaching, working primarily with middle school and high school students in one-on-one and small-group environments. I have also seen plenty of hours in classroom settings with large groups of students. My instructional approach is grounded in empathy, structured skill development, and transparent teaching, ensuring that students understand not only how to solve problems but why those solutions work, which promotes independence and long-term mastery. I specialize in SAT/ACT preparation and general academic support, using diagnostic assessments, targeted practice, and collaborative instruction to identify and close conceptual gaps. My sessions are interactive, incorporating screen sharing, annotation, and guided problem-solving to fully engage students in the learning process. My students are given and expected to complete substantial independent practice (homework), as consistent effort is essential for growth. I have experience in classroom management, 1:1 tutoring, and virtual instruction, and I have worked with students at a variety of skill levels, from those building foundational skills to those working towards top-ranking standardized test scores. My mission is to provide academic guidance with integrity, build both confidence and competence, and help students develop a positive relatonship with the learning process.
