My name is Thomas Brooks, and nursing has been both my career and my calling for more than two decades. Over the past 21 years, I have gained extensive experience in multiple areas of the profession while also developing a passion for mentoring future nurses. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from University of California, San Francisco, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Yale University, where I further strengthened my foundation in evidence-based practice, advanced clinical care, and patient-centered decision making.
My clinical background includes working in several high-acuity and specialized healthcare environments. I have spent many years practicing in Intensive Care Units, cardiac care, post-surgical recovery, medical-surgical units, and geriatric care. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of the real-world challenges nurses face and the critical thinking skills required to provide safe, effective patient care.
Alongside my clinical work, I have spent the past nine years tutoring nursing students at both the RN and BSN levels. I have also served as a clinical preceptor, helping guide nursing students through hands-on training and supporting them as they transition from classroom learning to clinical application. Nursing school can be overwhelming because of the volume of material, so my tutoring focuses on helping students truly understand the concepts rather than simply memorizing information.
My tutoring sessions focus on evidence-based nursing practice, prioritization and delegation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective test-taking strategies. I also help students prepare for both the NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN exams through structured review, practice questions, and personalized study strategies. I offer online and in-person tutoring, and I strive to remain flexible because questions often arise at unexpected times.
