I am a Ph.D. candidate in the field of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a 4.0 g.p.a. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, I made the Dean's List. I have worked successfully with a very broad range of students in a variety of subjects including social sciences, English language learning, English Language Arts, and TOEFL/SAT/ACT test prep. As a licensed public school teacher for twenty years in Chicago and five in Miami I was always available to offer additional tutoring to my students. I also worked as an academic tutor in the City Colleges of Chicago for three years. I helped students make significant progress in their social science, humanities and English Language Learning courses. In addition, I have tutored students privately for over twenty years. My strategies for increasing verbal SAT scores have helped many of my students. I am extremely creative and energetic and I genuinely enjoy the challenge of helping learners master new concepts, develop their skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. In my extensive teaching and tutoring experience, I have always been willing to meet my students where they are at and to use creative and effective approaches to helping them successfully overcome any challenges they are facing. My students, their parents and my colleagues have commented on how patient I am with my learners. As I am an open-minded lifelong learner, I am always receptive to any suggestions that my students or their parents may have and I will work hard to make the sessions both productive and enjoyable.
