The 5 Hour Approach: I developed my own tutoring approach to college admissions essays. For the personal statement, I guide students to find their personal statement essay story in one two-hour session though a combination of gentle conversation and active listening. I have no worksheets or other busy work. In a third one-hour session, I guide students through how to write their essay. After this, editing and revision, including identifying the best words and sentence structure. My approach is supportive, constructive, and collaborative. Careful and efficient.
