Bio

I am a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science and also a strong mathematical formation. I finish my university when I was 23, and I got a Master's diploma in Energy Efficiency at Pierre Mendes University in 1996. I got my Ph.D. in 2011 at Central University. I have worked as an electrical power engineer specializing in distribution power systems and residential, commercial, or industrial projects according to NEC and IEC standards. I am a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science and also a strong mathematical formation. I finish my university when I was 23, and I got a Master's diploma in Energy Efficiency at Pierre Mendes University in 1996. I got my Ph.D. in 2011 at Central University. I have worked as an electrical power engineer specializing in distribution power systems and residential, commercial, or industrial projects according to NEC and IEC standards. I also love programming and have been a team software engineering leader for many years.

I love math and I have been an outstanding student in high school and college. I have been a teacher of math, computer programming, and electrical engineering and I also advised more than 60 degrees and master's thesis on these subjects most of them with excellent qualifications. I also love chess and I have a junior and senior champion of chess in my homeland province. I got an International Master Correspondence Chess in 1984.

I would love to help students from middle or high school with math or programming and also electrical engineering college students. Often student problems are due to poor foundation from previous years that need to be identified and addressed.

I feel confident with my pedagogic abilities in Algebra 1, usually a continuation of prealgebra from 7th. It emphasizes the algebraic modeling, linear functions, different forms of linear equations and inequalities, and statistical modeling. Students have more difficulties with the second part about nonlinear systems (exponential, geometrics, quadratic, inverse) where it requires more exercise.

I have worked in C++ for many years with C++ Builder and also Visual Studio. I have worked for scientific computation with all kinds of arrays, linked lists and pointers, searching and ordering algorithms, and also with object-oriented paradigms and inheritance (single or multiple). I have used most of the language characteristics like type definition, overloading templates, and several of the standard libraries.

I won junior and several senior championships in my home province and played also in the Cuban Championship at the board with several Grand Masters. As a professional engineer, I switch to play correspondence chess where I won three medals in different National Correspondence Championships of Cuba and played in the semifinal of the World Correspondence Championships. I have studied and trained in chess for more than 30 years. I am also an expert in chess literature.

My project was based on calculating shift factors for different tests systems. It required strong mathematics and electrical engineering background and computer programming in Matlab or Octave.  Raul is very knowledgeable in all three areas. He was patient and went beyond my expectations to ensure I understood my assignment. He did a lot of research and work outside our scheduled sessions. He ran the code and debugged it on his computer, and then he thoroughly explained the process and the results to make sure I understood it well. He also followed up to ensure everything went smoothly. I highly recommend him for tutoring.
