Bio

I'm a professional cellist, composer, and educator based out of the Miami area. I both compose and perform a wide variety of musical styles, and trying something new is always something I look forward to. Regardless of whether I'm performing the Elgar Concerto, composing a new chamber work, or helping a student with the circle of 5ths playing and working with music is always what I link to be doing.

Regardless of whether I'm performing the Elgar Concerto, composing a new chamber work, or helping a student with the circle of 5ths playing and working with music is always what I link to be doing.

I'm in the 4th year of my Bachelor's degree in both cello performance and music theory/composition at the Frost School of Music, and I like to bring my classroom experience into my lessons. All of my professors are involved in the most cutting edge parts of performing and composing, and this allows me to bring the most current practices to my students.

I have been teaching private cello lessons since I was 16 years old, and I have had a number of successful students. In the past, I have had students get into highly acclaimed youth orchestras (including Midwest Young Artists Conservatory), compete in chamber music competitions (including Rembrandt Chamber Musicians Annual High School Chamber Music Competition), and win concerto competitions (including the Racine Symphony Young Artists' Competition.

In addition to this, I am also an active performer, performing in various chamber ensembles and Ensemble Ibis. Recently, I was reviewed by the South Florida Classical Review for my performance with Ensemble Ibis; the review stated, "Kyle Pearl’s burnished cello solo . . . encompassed the work’s passionate moods."

My music theory education began at Midwest Young Artists Conservatory in Illinois in high school, during which I earned a five on both sections of the AP music theory exam. During college, I have participated in the Frost School of Music's innovative Experiential Music Curriculum. This curriculum combines traditional solfege and theory training with improvisation and composition. The multifaceted approach I experienced gives me numerous tools to help my students with.
