Hello, my name is Milton R. and I've been a teacher or tutor for 17 years. I actually never imagined myself becoming a teacher but in 2003, I was in a relationship, and my girlfriend's little brother was struggling in reading class. She suggested that I help by tutoring him. Over the next three months, I was able to spend an hour a day with him and help him read short stories and books. Eventually his grades improved from an F to a B. He was happy to understand the material better and feel less lost in class. For me that experience was so satisfying that it inspired me to go into education. I had no idea about pedagogy or teaching techniques but I inherently knew that if I can provide a student an opportunity to understand the material and make mistakes they will be able to successfully learn.
Since then I've been working as a middle school teacher in the areas of Science, Math, Language Arts, Reading, History and Social Studies. I have grown in the field, gaining a better understanding of my student's needs and abilities. I'm always amazed of when a student is able to understand something that is difficult and the joy it brings them because they have finally learned it. I hope that I can bring a level of enjoyment to a teaching session and am able to be a part of your student's academic and personal achievement.
