I feel so fortunate to have virtually met Rocio through Wyzant! My son first started taking reading/writing lessons less than a year ago. After experiencing Rocio’s amazing way with kids and her ability to engage him, I asked her if she could teach both reading/writing and math and she kindly accommodated us despite her busy schedule. Within a short period of time, we saw tremendous progress in my son’s reading and math skills, 100% attributable to Rocio! She has this amazing ability to understand what her students need and then tailor the class accordingly. My son looked forward to seeing “Ms. H” every morning and that helped the 2.5 hour lesson go by very quickly. When he started taking lessons initially, he had not even completed pre-K curriculum due to the pandemic. Within less than a year, he has not only completed kindergarten curriculum but has also learned how to read up to third grade sight words. He has also successfully adjusted to an in-person learning environment and is a happy first grader! All thanks to marvelous Ms. H!

Great lesson, learning colors!
Harper was excited to meet again for todays lesson. She is taking to the online experience better than anticipated. She really enjoyed the color song, I’ll see if I can find something similar to help her practice this week as well as do as you suggested and try to point out the colors of objects in Spanish. I think the approach of using a tutor instead of “boring dad lessons” is a far better approach for Harper for learning Spanish. Thank you for making the lessons fun and age appropriate.

Great 1st Lesson
There are so many variables for this situation… new teacher, online environment, learning a different language, early morning for a 4 year old . I think all things considered the experience was great. We have been able to continue to review many of the words learned and I really look forward to Harper gaining familiarity with Srta. Henriquez and her fun teaching style. ¡5 corazones!

Super engaging, friendly, knows her stuff
My son LOVED his session with Senorita H! After his first class, he said she was his favorite teacher—big compliments as he goes to a Spanish Immersion TK program! As a parent, I loved that she started with an evaluation to see where he was with his Spanish skills. My degree is in Linguistics—Specialization in Cognition & Language, and I’m currently finishing my master’s program in Communication Disorders to become an SLP. During our initial meeting before classes started, I was very impressed by the instructor’s level of knowledge when it comes to language learning and cognitive development. She is worth every cent and much more. We feel lucky to have found her right off the bat!

My daughter was having fun and was engaged throughout. Ms. H is so warm and friendly, which is especially important over zoom so that it can translate in a virtual environment. She also has great tools she uses to make the lesson plan exciting and plan. You can tell she knows how to engage with kindergarteners which was important to me. Highly recommend.

Ms. H is a great teacher! She really has created a positive relationship with my son. She helps him stay on track when he starts to get off-topic and he enjoys his lessons with her. normally my son hates anything relating to the words school or work but is excited about his lessons. He will do any work I tell him is from Ms. H. Every lesson I get a report of the lesson, what needs work, and what to focus on before the next lesson. She is always respectful, helpful, and kind.

Rocio is amazing and happens to be a common topic of conversation with my kids. My little boy told me today, “Mom, Rocio is the kindest person I’ve met!” I can’t think of a better compliment than that, especially when our sessions are at the crack of dawn, haha! Rocio is not only skilled at teaching Spanish, but connects well with the children! Love working with her!
