I help students to build confidence, develop a love for learning and reach the ultimate goal of becoming self learners. I am concerned and care about my students and I want to help them to realize their individual goals. Having tutored all types of learners, I realized the importance of finding a student's interests and passions. I think it's important to be flexible and maintain a positive and fun teaching environment.

I received my undergraduate degree in Multinational Business from Florida State University and received my Master's of Finance from Florida International University. I worked in International Banking for 15 years before leaving to raise our two children. Having homeschooled them for 8 years, I was able to gain valuable experience in teaching different subjects, different levels and different learning styles. This experience has helped me immensely in being a successful tutor. I am qualified to tutor in Math, Algebra, Reading, Grammar, ESL and Public Speaking. I have lived in other countries and I am able to adapt to different cultures and languages.

I sincerely care about my students and I love to encourage and motivate them. I especially enjoy helping students develop a life-long love for learning. Please feel free to contact me to learn more and schedule lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Since students learn in many different ways, each student may look at a math problem in a different way. So a tutor has to be adaptable and patient. One of the biggest problems a student often has in math is a lack of confidence. Everyone can succeed in mathematics! It just takes time and encouragement. I love helping students overcome their math fears. Math is all around us. Math is in music. Math is in cooking, Math is in nature. Math is in art. Math is exciting!
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I help students strengthen their foundations in Algebra 2 and develop an appreciation for higher maths. My methods improve test scores and also help students to gain confidence and a sense of satisfaction at being able to master complex concepts. They learn critical thinking skills that can be used to solve real world problems. I also help students with test prep and homework.

ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have experience communicating and helping others to learn English quickly. I have also lived in another country, immersed in a foreign language. This helped me to know what it is like to learn a second language first hand. I enjoy explaining common English phrases, helping with pronunciation and accent reduction. Also, I have experience tutoring people who don't speak the language and helping them to understand very difficult concepts. All of this experience makes me excited and enthusiastic about helping others to master a second language. I have my Master's degree and have worked in international banking.
Grammar

Grammar

My mother was an English and Speech teacher. When I was growing up, if I said something that was incorrect grammatically, she would always make me repeat it correctly five times. Of course I didn't appreciate it at the time, but this made me very good in grammar. I find that this method of hearing the correct phrase repetitively really works and sticks with a student much more than strictly memorizing grammar rules.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have over 30 years of experience in public speaking. I currently participate and teach adults and children in a weekly public speaking program that I have been involved in for the last 19 years. I began taking public speaking courses in childhood through 4H club and classes in school, winning several public speaking contests. After university, I was awarded a Rotary Fellowship for a year in England where I gave speeches regularly to different organizations. As a manager for an international bank, I was responsible for giving presentations to customers and upper-management on a regular basis. I have a Masters in Finance and a BS in Multinational Business.
Reading

Reading

I have experience teaching children how to read as well as develop a love for reading. When I work with students they not only improve in reading but are also able to understand the meaning of what they read. I have a lot of experience with children who are late readers. I am patient, kind and fun.

Knowledgable and patient tutor

I absolutely love the way Ms. Rebecca connects with my daughter and makes teaching fun. I am very thankful. The topics are broken down and this encourages a way of reading that will help her in the future.

Understanding, Knowledgeable, Patient

Rebecca has been awesome so far with my daughter. She has found other ways to help my daughter retain & stay focused with the material she has been teaching her . My daughter was able to adjust & feel comfortable with Rebecca to the extent my daughter prefers her over her own teachers in her school. What a refreshing feeling for me as a mom to see the excitement my daughter feels when she knows she is going to be working with Rebecca.

Knowledgeable, patient, excellent teaching skills and motivator

I met Prof. Rebecca only one time. But I really enjoyed and learned very interesting things from her. Examples: Reduction of accent, teach English slangs, improve English communication.
