Graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Thomas University with a BA in Math. Then pursued my passion for Chemistry by earning a BA in Chemistry at Florida International University and graduated Magna Cum Laude. After which I dedicatedly taught high school for the next ten years. I took the first job that I was offered at North Miami Senior High where I taught Algebra I to a class of low performing students. The most challenging task was making these students belief in themselves and overcome their feelings of low self esteem. I managed to teach these students algebraic concepts, self worth, and self respect. Though not the most prestigious job, it turned out to be very rewarding.
I went on to teach Earth Space, Physical Science, and Chemistry at Miami Killian Senior High. My students looked forward to coming to class because I connected my lessons with real world experiences such as the colors in fireworks, and making and launching 6ft hot air balloon made from tissue paper. Some of my students went on to become chemical engineers, pharmacists, and chemistry teachers. The most important job as an educator in to inspire young minds to reach beyond their limits.
I am certified in Math 6-12 in the State of Florida. Retook and passed the Math 6-12 subject area exam in 2018 and I am also experienced in the common core curriculum. I dissect each problem using step by step instructions when teaching complex math concepts, which help my students build confidence in problem solving.
