Recently received my PhD in Physics at SUNY Stony Brook (2024), and hold B.S. degrees in Physics and Math from the University of Florida (2019). During my studies I've tutored thousands of hours in a variety of math and physics courses, both as a private tutor and as a tutor for my University. I've also served 3 years as a Teaching Assistant for various Calculus and Physics courses.

Not only is it rewarding to help give students an appreciation for math and science, but tutoring also helps me to gain deeper insights into the material that I wouldn't have otherwise. Over the years I've used my tutoring experiences to find the best ways to explain certain concepts, and can usually provide multiple approaches to explaining an idea based on the student's preferences.

I'm familiar with all math courses leading up to Multivariable Calculus, as well as Differential Equations, Set Theory, Mathematical Logic, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Complex Analysis, and Real analysis. I'm also familiar with the standard Introductory Physics with Calculus sequence, Thermodynamics, Statistical Physics, Modern Physics, Intermediate Electromagnetism, Particle Physics, and have taken Classical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics at the graduate level.

So if you're interested please contact me and we can try to schedule something that works.

Calculus

Calculus

Familiar with Analytic Geometry & Calculus I - III (MAC2311, MAC2312, MAC2313 at UF). I'm also familiar with Functions of a Complex Variable (MAA4402 / MAA5404 at UF), also called complex analysis. I've also taken Advanced Calculus I (MAA4211 at UF) also called real analysis.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I completed Elementary Differential Equations (MAP2302) at UF. Received an A in the class and 100% on the Final Exam. Also completed Intermediate Differential Equations (MAP4305) at UF. Received 100% on all assignments in the course.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I am a second year Math and Physics double major at UF. Completed proof based linear algebra (MAS4105 at UF). Course covered linear equations, matrices, vector spaces, linear transformations, determinants, eigenvalues and inner-product spaces. Emphasized theoretical aspects of linear algebra however also developed computational tools. I'm also familiar with Abstract Algebra (MAS4301 at UF).
Logic

Logic

Completed Sets and Logic (MHF3202 at UF). Got an A in the course and near perfect scores on every exam. The course covered truth tables, tautologies, applications to mathematical arguments, mathematical induction, quantifiers, and techniques of writing proofs. I have also since gained extensive experience in writing more advanced proofs.
Physics

Physics

I am familiar with Physics 1 with Calculus and Physics 2 with Calculus (PHY2048 and PHY2049 at UF). I'm also familiar with Thermal Physics (PHY3513 at UF) and Modern Physics (PHY3101 at UF). I've also taken Classical Mechanics 1 and Classical Mechanics 2 (PHY3221 and PHY4222 at UF), as well as graduate classical mechanics (PHY6246 at UF), Electromagnetism 1 and 2 (PHY3323 and PHY4324 at UF), Introduction to Particle Physics (PHZ4390 at UF), and Introductory Quantum Mechanics 1 and 2(PHY4604 and PHY4605 at UF).

Committed and diligent

We’ve only had our first session so far, but Jonathan comes across as a committed and diligent tutor. I appreciate Jonathan’s professional demeanor and my son enjoyed studying with him. It is really helpful that he is able to come to us.

Knowledgeable and Creative

Worked with Jonathan on Calc II, for which he had a lot of input and ways of connecting the concepts to what I already know (calc II). Didn’t waste time but also wasn’t in a rush, making sure no material was overlooked. Great tutor!

Knowledgeable and patient

Jonathan was very helpful and insightful. He went the extra mile to make sure I understood every concept. He was patient, and showed me several tricks and tips on how to make the concepts easier for me.
