Throughout my 24+ years of academic training, I have been fortunate to tutor students at the elementary, high school, undergraduate, adult education, and residency levels in a variety of science-related subjects, standardized exam prep, study skills, bilingual Reading/Writing/Comprehension (English & Spanish), and admission essay writing/editing, among others. My former students would likely describe me as calm, encouraging, positive, patient, resilient, emotionally intelligent, creative and problem-solver.

I would love to help you optimize your study skills, solidify your knowledge, and be instrumental in achieving your goals and overcoming any hurdles at whatever stage of your career you may be at. I am a firm believer that persistence and practice override perceived innate talent, and everything is more doable if we can break it down to its most minimal parts. So, give yourself a pat on the back; if you are on this site, it means you already did the hardest part: Identifying an area of development and taking action to bridge the gap between comfort and potential. I trust you will find the right person to help you do so!

My schedule is fairly flexible at the moment since I am studying myself to prepare for my last national medicine licensing examination; thus, this is the perfect scenario for us to help each other! Feel free to reach out anytime with any questions or to schedule a lesson; I will do my best to reply ASAP.

ADHD

ADHD

I was formally diagnosed with ADHD at age 32. Since then, I embarked a journey of understanding neurodiversity by pursuing formal evaluation from experts in the field, like Dr. Brown in Los Angeles, CA, and reading and implementing advice from selected ADHD books such as “Unapologetically ADHD” and “ADHD is awesome.” I’ve learned that managing ADHD is not a one-size fits all, and instead, it requires tapping into the strengths of our brains such as creativity and problem solving to find what works best for each of us. As a result, I have continued collecting and incorporating advice from a wide range of resources related to managing ADHD including support groups, studying strategies, therapeutic and non-therapeutic approaches to treatment (because “pills don’t teach skills”), pursuing formal diagnosis, educational companies with a focus on helping adults and consten with ADHD, mobile, apps (that actually work, for what and why), book recommendations, experts on the field, audiobooks, task management systems, podcasts, etc. Although I initially did all of this for personal reasons, I not only gained insights on the signs and symptoms of ADHD that are often overlooked in children and young adults, but also developed a passion for helping others navigate this journey through practical knowledge as a source of empowerment. Thanks to this, I have been able to navigate college, medical school, and residency by progressively stripping off my masking and discovering also what advantages ADHD comes with. Given my medical background and acquired experience completing a Neuroscience and Behavior Bachelor’s degree, I find it easy to navigate and understand the chronicity aspect of this condition, and filtering evidence based recommendations thanks also to my extensive research experience with 10+ peer reviewed journal publications including a co-first author population study (on how natural disasters and language skills influence our risk of suffering from mental heath conditions as a result). Although I do not cur
Career Development

Career Development

Completed the Kaplan Educational Foundation Leadership training where received formal career development guidance ranging from writing effective CVs, resumes, and cover letters; using body language, reflective questioning and structured answers to nail job and academic program interviews, constructing personal statements that stand out among many, completing application components with a detailed oriented mindset, creative job search methods and opportunities, among others. I have also worked at the admissions office of undergraduate, medical school and residency institutions giving me a unique insight into what employers search for in applicants. With these experiences in mind, I have successfully crafted winning applications to competitive paid research internships and job positions at top employers and academic centers in the country including Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Miami, among others. Additionally, personality wise, by being a naturally detailed oriented, creative and problem solver person, I have successfully navigated securing these positions despite perceived red flags. Finally, I have used these skills and talents to help other students in-person and online to take control of their narrative, dream big and create effective plans to land the opportunities that will help them advance in their careers. With that said, over the years, I have built a career development repertoire through both training and implementation of strategies that I can pass on to you. Feel free to contact me to discuss further how I can help you thrive while developing your career and seeking opportunities that along with your associated values.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I have being part of admission committees at the undergraduate, medical school and residency program levels where I have had the opportunity to interview and interact with many applicants at different stages of their career. While in college myself, I continuously sought out support from college visiting offices which allowed me to learn and test out different strategies to establish balanced academic semesters schedules, pursue extracurricular activities and summer internships and jobs that can propel you with the experience to shine during the application process to and while at the following stage of your training, and design plan A, B and C to accomplish realistic, well defined goals at the college level and beyond. Feel free to contact me directly to have a meet and greet and explore how I can match your specific college counseling goals and interests.
MCAT

MCAT

I am currently a second-year Internal Medicine Resident in Miami, FL. I completed the exam successfully which allowed me to start and complete medical school, matched at my #1 option for Internal Medicine residency. Feel free to reach out to discuss how I can be of assistance more specifically.

USMLE

USMLE

I have completed and passed all USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3 exams required for medical licensure in the US medical system. Along the way, I have learned about common pitfalls and specific knowledge about standardized testing that just does not get taught well in most medical schools in the country, and particularly abroad. This lack of insight often leaves students with a sensation that they are "thrown into the ocean" and somehow they need to just "know" how to study to pass and score well on these tests. Thus, I have made it my mission to share my knowledge and test-taking strategies to make sure I communicate the essentials and help students prepare and score well on their USMLEs, focusing on deliberate practice, questions as learning, quality vs. quantity, slow is fast, active content review, spaced repetition, and good decision making at the time of committing to taking the actual test. My journey has not been perfect by any means; at the same time, this is precisely what makes me equipped to maneuver and troubleshoot different circumstances and student cases so that they do not get forever on the way of students achieving the skills that will result in them achieving their target scores and overall goals.

Knowledgeable and flexible residency application coach

Rosa was extremely helpful during the process of ERAS application completion. She helped me optimize my personal statement during a busy away rotation. Through a discussion of my story, she was able to help channel loose thoughts and ideas into a clearer narrative. Utilizing her experience with the match process and work as a physician, she whittled away the fluff and helped me put together the best possible application. From the personal statement, experiences, and advice in between, she is a great aid. I highly recommend her services!

Exceptional Guidance for the Pre-Med Journey

Rosa is an outstanding mentor with exceptional knowledge and insight into the pre-med track. My daughter found her guidance and the clear path she laid out to be incredibly valuable. Rosa is not only thorough and detail-oriented but also has deep expertise in course selection, extracurricular activities, and MCAT preparation. She took the time to understand my daughter’s strengths and interests, and then tailored her advice to create a realistic and achievable plan for success. What we appreciated most was Rosa’s ability to break down a complex journey into manageable steps, which gave my daughter confidence and clarity moving forward. We are very grateful for her support and plan to continue working with her throughout our daughter’s pre-med journey as she works toward achieving her long-term goals in medicine.

Knowledgable and Friendly

Rosa was extremely efficient and supportive throughout the process. I sought her guidance after learning about her experience in admissions and application writing. What impressed me most, and made me continue working with her, was her ability to truly understand the ideas I wanted to express but struggled to articulate on my own. She helped me bring my story to life on paper in a way that I had previously been unable to convey

The coach and tutor every medical student needs!

Rosa has been an incredible source of support during one of the most overwhelming times in any medical student's journey. As a third-year student starting my very first inpatient rotation, internal medicine, I was anxious and unsure, especially when it came to presenting in front of my team. From the start, Rosa made me feel seen and supported! She took the time to walk me through my presentation style, offered constructive feedback, and shared a helpful structure that made everything feel more manageable and less daunting. Even when I had to end our session early due to an appointment, Rosa didn’t hesitate to go the extra mile and she followed up with a detailed script outlining everything I needed for my presentation and note, bringing up points I didn't think of before, which truly elevated my performance. In fact, my attending the next day was impressed by the plan I presented! She continues to be there for me, answering questions and offering reassurance through messages, and she truly acts as a coach throughout the rotation. Her consistent presence and encouragement have helped ease a lot of the stress and self-doubt I have been feeling. Thanks to Rosa, I feel more confident navigating the challenges of the wards! I can't recommend her enough to any medical student looking for someone who genuinely cares, listens, and wants to see you succeed, and I will be recommending her to my friends and classmates!

Insightful and methodical

So far I've had one session with Rosa regarding my profile as a future medical school applicant. We went over my grades, MCAT study plan, CV, and the big "why." She is incredibly insightful, gave me a more structured future plan, and helped me understand how to turn weaknesses into strengths. She's able to offer tailored guidance based on who you are and where you want to be. She truly listens to you and gives you an honest opinion and honest game plan. I plan on working with her again in the near future! I plan on working with her again in near future!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

With just two sessions, Rosa has already taught me how to become a better medical student and lifelong learner! I appreciate her kindness and flexibility!! She took the time to ask the right questions and helped me better understand how to learn and retain complex material. I feel confident that with her support, I will become not only a stronger and more efficient student academically, but also a more confident and capable future physician.

Great insight and support

Rosa offered really thoughtful insights that built on the outline I brought into the session. She helped me think through rotations more clearly, especially when it came to how to communicate with the team, handle feedback, and make a good impression without overdoing it. Her summary after our meeting was organized and practical, and she struck a good balance between being encouraging and realistic. Definitely recommend working with her!

Thoughtful, empathetic, wise and Knowlegdeable

I met Dr.Rosa about three weeks before my MCAT, and she was a blessing. She understood how my brain works and tailored her approach to meet my needs. Dr. Rosa was very knowledgeable about MCAT topics and knew how to break down passages with ease. She didn’t just help me with the practical side of things—she also supported me with motivation. My only regret is not finding her sooner.
