I minored in history and political science at college (BA Ohio State Univ.) and entered the field of politics in the 1970s as a campaign volunteer. Over the last four decades I have been a leader the in Democratic Party both in Miami-Dade County and Florida. I currently serve as the president of Democrats of South Dade Club, the largest Democratic political club in Florida and as the Interclub Council Chair for the Democratic Party in Miami-Dade County. I am experienced in most phases of politics, including lobbying, campaigns and fundraising. I am serving my fourth term as president of DSDC and have led them to their greatest years. Our organization has 200 paid members and conducts many grass roots projects in the South Dade community. We have been recognized as the "Outstanding Large County Democratic Club" in the state by the Florida Democratic Party. I would like to use my vast experience in the everyday business of politics to impart wisdom to young people. Of course, I would not be instructing from a partisan viewpoint and would follow the course outline explicitly.
My activity in politics followed my entry into the fields of broadcasting and advertising. I would bring 40+ years of experience in media sales and a later career as a writer and author to the tutor position. After retiring from the advertising field in 2005, I wrote a memoir about my year as a broadcaster and political activist and it was published in 2011 online. My activities have also given me many opportunities to speak at various community meetings. Thank you for considering me.
