My name is Vaughn B. and I am passionate about tutoring and helping student reach their dream scores. I studied at Florida International University, earning a Bachelors in Arts for Psychology. During my degree I focused on adolescents psychology and educational mindsets for students, taking classes that helped me understand the concerns and developments of adolescents. Afterwards, I tutored Chemistry, Math, and the TEAS test for 2 years in one on one and group meetings in person at my former college at Miami Dade College. Since graduating, I have tutored SAT Online and in person for three years with multiple companies, including companies such as Varsity Tutors and PowerPlus tutoring. I have improved the scores of many of my students to the 1500 range and I am excited for this opportunity with Wyzant to help students in my local area in person and students all around the United States online.
My tutoring approach is precise and diligent as well as stress free, as I want my students to look forward to learning with me. I always try to target my students weakest areas at first, as a lot of weak areas for students can be solved quickly through repetitive questions with guidance from me. Targeting weak areas is the quickest way to improve test scores and leaves the students feeling proud with the work they have put it with the improved results. For students who already are high achieving with more difficult to discern weak points, I give general reviews and practice tests to uncover any areas they may feel not as confident in. High achieving student still need practice and a need for confidence and I am here to put the to the test and have them reach even greater heights.
I enjoy tutoring online and in person. My routine for tutoring online has been reinforced well and I am able to tackle many different types of questions over the course of an hour. I believe parents and students who are looking for a tutor who is straight forward and pleasant would like me for their test prep needs.
