I am a mechanical engineer and product design professional with more than 20 years of hands-on experience designing and developing products across the aerospace, defense, and medical device industries. Throughout my career, I have used SolidWorks extensively to create complex 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and production-ready designs. My experience also includes mechanical design, product development, reverse engineering, design for manufacturing, prototyping, tolerancing, and solving real-world engineering problems from initial concept through production.
Throughout my professional career, I have worked closely with and helped mentor engineers, designers, technicians, and other technical professionals with varying levels of experience. This has included explaining engineering and CAD concepts, reviewing models and drawings, demonstrating modeling techniques, troubleshooting design problems, and helping less-experienced colleagues develop more effective approaches to mechanical design. Although my teaching experience has primarily taken place one-on-one and in professional engineering environments rather than in a traditional classroom, teaching and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues has been a regular part of my engineering career.
My tutoring approach is practical, patient, and tailored to each student's experience and goals. I teach not only how to use SolidWorks commands, but also the design intent and reasoning behind effective modeling strategies. I can help beginners build a strong foundation in sketches, features, parts, assemblies, and drawings, while helping engineering students and more experienced users develop skills in advanced modeling, reverse engineering, tolerancing, manufacturability, and professional design practices. My goal is for students to become confident, independent SolidWorks users who understand how experienced engineers approach real-world design problems.
