Law and teaching have a lot in common: reading carefully, asking questions, looking at evidence, and putting the pieces of the puzzle together. I hold a B.A. from the University of Chicago, a J.D. from the University of Florida, and hold a professional certification in Social Studies for grades 6-12.
I do not think that history should be about memorizing endless lists of names and dates. I want students to understand why things happened, what happened as a result, and how events that might seem unrelated actually connect. History is an ongoing conversation between the ancient and modern worlds.
When tutoring, my goal is to figure out where a student is having trouble and start from there. Each student is different, so we will talk through the material, and work towards understanding the material.
Whether you need help with history, government, reading, or writing, we will work through it together. My goal is to help you understand the material so you will be more confident working with it on your own.
