I recently graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Bioprocess Engineering, achieving a 4.0 GPA and graduating Summa Cum Laude. My academic background is heavily rooted in mathematics and the physical sciences, having completed rigorous coursework in calculus, biothermodynamics, biotransport, and biochemistry throughout my undergraduate career. This strong foundation gives me the ability to not only teach the material but to connect abstract concepts to real-world applications in science and engineering.
During my time at FSU, I gained hands-on tutoring experience in both one-on-one and group settings. I worked individually with a fellow student in Calculus II, focusing on helping them build confidence with integration techniques, series, and applications of derivatives. My approach in one-on-one sessions is to first identify where the student's understanding breaks down and then work systematically from the ground up, using real examples and step-by-step problem solving rather than memorization. For organic chemistry, I led informal group study sessions with classmates, breaking down reaction mechanisms and functional group transformations in a collaborative environment. I found that group settings work particularly well for chemistry because students often learn from each other's questions as much as from direct instruction.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to tutor students in either language — something that can be particularly valuable for Spanish-speaking families. I am patient, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoy seeing students develop confidence in subjects they once found challenging.
