My name is Shareen. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a minor in Film. In four years, I have worked as a substitute teacher for a private Montessori school, an art teacher for a charter Montessori school, and a reading interventionist and writing teacher at a public elementary school. In addition, I have worked for about two years as a private English language, reading, and writing tutor. In total, I've spent around six years teaching children as young as 7 and as old as 14, as well as teaching English as a second language to an adult learner.

In the public school system, I worked with 25 students per fifth grade class to prepare them for the Florida Standards Assessment Writing Exam. I created lesson plans and worksheets and sat one-on-one with them to see if they understood their scores and what they could do to improve them. For my reading interventionist duties, I worked with first to fourth grade in small groups of 4 to 7 students. These students needed help reaching the appropriate reading level for their grade. For this, I followed a curriculum of reading and teaching new vocabulary words.

In my private tutoring for reading and writing, I help students one-on-one. I tailor the lesson based on their strengths and weaknesses. For example, if the student struggles with vocabulary, we will work on flashcards for memorization, and I will have the students create sentences with the vocabulary words so they improve in their practical application as well.

When I teach English to adults, I also work one-on-one. I may have the student read an article to check their pronunciation and comprehension. Afterwards, we will have a conversation about the topic. At the end, we will go over a lesson I have created based on the student's needs. For example, I may focus on new vocabulary words, grammar rules or pronunciation.

Drawing

Drawing

I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Studio Art. In my freshman year, three of my art pieces were accepted into the Student Juried Exhibition at the Lowe Art Museum. One of the pieces was sold after the exhibition and another donated to an office at the university. During graduate school, I worked as an illustrator for a digital game funded by the CDC called Zoo Rush. Briefly, I worked as a substitute teacher teaching art sometimes at the elementary school level and I worked for a semester as an art teacher in a middle school. More recently, I participated as an Emerging Artist in the Coconut Grove Arts Festival in 2024 and an official festival artist in the Beaux Arts Festival in 2025. My skills include traditional drawing and acrylic and watercolor painting as well as digital drawing.
Film

Film

Film was my minor as an undergraduate student and although I did not complete my masters, I spent two years working towards a masters in film at the University of Miami. As a freshman, I wrote and directed a film that won an award for the Scares and Scores Film Festival before it became my minor. I participated in the Creative Minds experience during the Cannes Film Festival. I also worked with a production company when I interned at Dolphin Digital Media. During this internship, besides office duties, I wrote coverage for YA novels. While in graduate school, I worked as a producer and editor on a short documentary filmed in Guatemala that required several translations, from Kakchiquel to Spanish to English. I have also worked as a freelance scriptwriter for a company that creates explainer videos.
