Martina holds an M.F.A. in Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University and a B.S. in Economics with a minor in Creative Writing from New York University. As a reporter at Forbes, she published more than 40 articles covering economic markets, politics, and entrepreneurs, including interviewing figures such as Jeff Bezos. She has also written for the Financial Times and served as the Nonfiction Editor for the Columbia Journal, where she reviewed hundreds of submissions and worked closely with writers to refine structure, clarity, and narrative voice.
In addition to her professional work, Martina has direct tutoring and teaching experience. At Elevate Guidance, she worked with high school students to improve their writing skills and prepare college application essays. Most students were juniors and seniors navigating the college admissions process. Sessions were conducted in one on one and small group formats, where she guided students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revision. Alongside college essays, she also helped students in middle school and high school strengthen broader English and writing fundamentals such as thesis development, argument structure, grammar, and persuasive storytelling.
Her teaching experience also includes volunteering with Columbia University’s Incarcerated Writers Initiative, where she led writing workshops over a six month period to help participants develop their writing abilities and confidence as storytellers. Across journalism, editing, and teaching, Martina has accumulated more than 10,000 hours practicing and refining the craft of writing. In her tutoring, she focuses on distilling the lessons learned spanning from her time at Columbia to Forbes into the most practical insights and techniques she has learned.
