Hello! My name is Johanna, and I am a certified elementary teacher with a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction and a K–12 Reading Certification. I currently teach 4th grade Language Arts and work with both general education and gifted students to strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and grammar skills. I have extensive experience helping students build confidence in literacy and develop the skills they need to succeed in school. My goal is to support students who may be struggling while also challenging those who want to advance their reading and writing abilities.

I specialize in tutoring reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing organization, grammar, and elementary study skills. My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style. During sessions, I break down complex skills into manageable steps, provide guided practice, and use engaging reading and writing activities that help students truly understand the material rather than simply memorize it. I focus on building strong foundational skills so students become more independent and confident learners.

Before beginning tutoring, I offer a brief consultation to discuss the student’s needs and goals. I ask for 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling, and I review tutoring policies with families by email prior to our first lesson.
