Hi, I'm Max! I’m currently a senior in high school and will be attending Harvard to study physics. Over the past years, I’ve focused heavily on mathematics and physics, earning 5s on AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C as well as a perfect score on the SAT Math section. Throughout high school, I have helped many students with math and science classes, and I’ve seen great improvements in both their grades and their confidence with the material. Because I recently completed these courses and exams myself, I understand the challenges students face and the most common areas where they get stuck.
When I tutor, I focus on building genuine understanding rather than memorization. Many students are taught to memorize formulas, but without understanding where they come from, it becomes difficult to apply them to unfamiliar problems. I like to focus on developing a genuine intuition behind concepts and often derive formulas step by step so students can see why they work. Once the logic becomes clear, students can reconstruct the ideas and solve new and more difficult problems with much more confidence.
I tutor students across a wide range of levels. This includes foundational math such as algebra and geometry, as well as advanced high school subjects like calculus and physics. I also work with students preparing for standardized exams such as the SAT or AP tests. During sessions, we first focus on strengthening conceptual understanding, then practice applying those ideas through targeted problems so students build both accuracy and speed. My goal is not only to help students succeed on their current assignments or exams, but also to help them develop the problem-solving skills and intuition that make future topics easier to learn.
