During my graduate studies at Duke, I served as a teaching assistant, which involved conducting weekly sessions, grading assignments, and providing one-on-one assistance to students grappling with complex economic and mathematical theories and applications. This role was pivotal in honing my ability to communicate complex information effectively and adapting my teaching methods to fit diverse learning styles.

Rene is an exceptional tutor! He recently helped my daughter prep for her AP Economics class—which covers both Micro and Macro—targeting material she had previously been failing because the sheer volume of homework was completely overwhelming. Rene was able to quickly scan through tedious software and videos, instantly narrowing down exactly what was essential to study. He focused heavily on the most critical graph concepts, specifically mastering the Production Possibilities Curve (PPC). He broke down how to read efficient, inefficient, and impossible points, calculated opportunity cost (give up over gain), and clearly explained the difference between bowed and straight line curves using memorable examples like specialized labor. He also made sure she understood curve shifts versus points moving inside the curve due to unemployment. Beyond his great strategy, Rene has a fantastic, warm personality that makes complex topics pleasant and easy to learn. My daughter walked away feeling incredibly confident for her test. We highly recommend him!

Even though his primary subject is listed as ACT Math, he showed a deep, masterful understanding of AP Macroeconomics during our 1.1-hour lesson.He did a wonderful job walking me through the foundational theory of Module 1.1, including scarcity, trade-offs, and the four factors of production. What I appreciated most was his patient approach to the quantitative side—he made calculating opportunity cost using the "give up / gain" formula incredibly clear when applying it to PPC tables, straight-line PPCs, and bowed curves. His real-world example comparing comparative advantage between Ecuador and Peru made a traditionally confusing topic instantly click. I highly recommend Rene to any student looking for an adaptable, highly effective, and supportive tutor!
