I am a recently retired teacher of 33 years, spending the last 25 teaching HS Algebra and HS Geometry. My work in middle school offered me the opportunity to teach HS level math classes. However, students enrolled in these classes have skipped 1 or 2 full years of mathematics instruction. I was required to fill the gaps which were skipped, and bring 7th grade students to a 9th grade level and 8th grade students to a 10th grade level.

I have been a private tutor to dozens of students over the years. Many since pre-algebra and I have taken them through through and into their high school years. Many started not keeping pace with classroom instruction. I analyzed deficiencies and provided instruction to bring them to understanding current content and then pre-taught upcoming concepts.

I do ask my tutoring students to bring an example of the content from their classroom even if it is just one problem. When students say, "I don't understand any of it!". I am able to take them back to what they do understand, address comprehension of skills and bring them to mastery. Once students understand the content I provide several ways to solve the problem.

As a teacher in the state of Florida, my students must pass the state End of Course Exam for Algebra and Geometry. My average passing rate was 96% with 2 years at 100%.

I explain the content in clear language that the students understand. Asa classroom teacher I provided my students with my cell number so they could reach me after school hours it they had questions, I would tell them, "Send me a pic of the problem." and I would help them anytime. Many have moved onto Algebra 2 and they would still text me for help.

I am experienced in iXL, MathLab, Canvas, MathXL, Khan, Math Nation, Intermediate College Algebra.
