There is no such thing as a "math person", anyone is capable of mastering the subject with the right instruction! There are many paths to understanding and I find customized a way of teaching, best harmonizing the topic with the student's personal manner of thinking. My tutoring style takes into account each individual's own experiences, goals, and tendencies.

My tutoring style takes into account each individual's own experiences, goals, and tendencies.

I work well with both the type A and neurodiverse, and students with math anxiety. It's my joy to find a way to make the class content enjoyable, with high scores, tests that feel easy and calm, and improved confidence being natural side effects.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

A strong foundation in Algebra is so important for success on standardized tests, and in my opinion is the most "real world" applicable math subject. I've taught Algebra as supplement to classes, giving insight and helping work out gaps in prior education (most commonly fractions and integers). I've also taught Algebra as a teacher, to homeschool students, adults taking qualifying exams, and college students refreshing their math.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of my favorite to tutor, with topics that are often brand new to students such as trigonometry and functional analysis. I have 5+ years of experience helping students fill the gaps in their prior knowledge and master the new concepts. I find my enthusiasm for these topics easily transfers to students, which makes learning and acing classes a painless experience.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

Any degree in physics requires knowledge of diff eqns because physics is completely made out of differential eqns. I took the class Ordinary Differential Equations twice in college. My school was pass fail and the first time around I made a 69% right below pass, the second time in the 90%s. Then I took Mathematical Physics which focused on diff eqns, and I also took Partial differential equations using Strauss textbook which I did well in.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry can be frustrating for students often because it is incompletely described in classes and textbooks. I strengthen the students' foundation in Algebra and use examples from art and media to help the student gain a geometric intuition. This helps raise confidence and test scores without having to memorize anything.

Helped a stressed out daughter

I want to thank Abigail for being there to help my high school daughter get through her math assignment that she was struggling with. Abigail went above and beyound and sent links to math materials that she can practice on and become even more confident. Thank you so much Abigail for your help.

Very helpful and responsive

Abigail explains things in a way that my son grasps easily. She is very good at targeting his specific needs and provides him practice problems to work on outside of tutoring. She is very responsive when we request a session and almost always accommodates our needs. This is our second year using Abigail for high school Geometry and Algebra 2

Simply fantastic

Abby easily picked up on my child's strengths and where they need practice, is extremely patient and positive, and somehow makes learning math relaxing for me previously math averse kid. My daughter is gaining should and confidence and looks forward to their sessions which is something I didn't think possible!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Abigail has been working with my 14yr old son for several weeks on geometry. She jumped right in and during their first lesson my son remarked that he learned more in one session than he did all year from his teacher. They meet weekly and his confidence has grown and understanding geometry better. It’s been a wonderful experience!

Amazing at explaining quesitons

She was very patient and always ready to help and explain something further when there was a struggle. She is very knowledgeable on the topics and can explain them or relate them in different ways to help learn or better understand.

Knowledgeable and patient

Abigail is always eager to help and will explain until I get it. She’s the type of tutor that helps make it click. I don’t know how I would be doing in Physics Mechanics and Theory without her.

Great teacher

Abigail has been a blessing to my kiddo. She understands “kid explanations” and is able to help her understand what they are teaching in school. She is amazingly kind and gentle toned and works well with kids.
